PULLMAN, Wash. (ABC4 Sports) – Before the Utah football team takes the field against rival BYU, they already know who they will be playing in the Pac-12 championship game next week.
Myles Gaskin rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns, as #16 Washington Huskies upset #8 Washington State in a snowy Apple Cup Friday night, 28-15.
The Huskies, who beat the Utes on September 15th at Rice-Eccles Stadium, 21-7, held the vaunted Washington State passing game in check. Heisman Trophy candidate Gardner Minshew threw for a season-low 152 yards and two interceptions in what became a blizzard in the second half.
Washington won the Pac-12 championship in 2016, while this will be the first appearance for the Utes in the conference title game.
Utah has lost three straight games to Washington, including a 14-point defeat two months ago. In that game, Gaskin ran for 140 yards and a touchdown, while the Huskies defense held the Utes to just 261 total yards and one touchdown.
The Pac-12 championship will be played Friday, November 30 at 6:00 mountain time at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
