PULLMAN, Wash. (ABC4 Sports) – Even without leading scorer David Collette, the Runnin’ Utes had no problem at all with Washington State Wednesday night.
Kyle Kuzma had 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Lorenzo Bonam scored 17 points as the Utes demolished the Cougars, 88-47.
Along with Kuzma and Bonam, Sedrick Barefield and Gabe Bealer also scored in double figures with 10 points each, as the Utes shot a blistering hot 58 percent from the field.
This is Utah’s second 41-point win over Washington State in less than a year. The Utes beat the Cougars by the same 88-47 score at the Huntsman Center on February 14, 2016.
Collette did not make the trip after suffering a concussion in practice this week, but the Utes did not need him on this night.
Jayce Johnson started in Collette’s place and scored nine points, as did Parker Van Dyke and Tyler Rawson.
The Utes held Washington State to just 33 percent shooting from the field, including 2 of 18 from three-point range.
Utah raced out to a 42-23 halftime lead and never looked back. Kuzma and Bonam combined to make 13 of 20 shots as the Utes used a 26-5 run in the second half to blow the game wide open.
The Utes dominated the boards, outrebounding Washington State, 46-25.
Utah (13-5, 4-2 Pac-12) next plays at Washington Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
