SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – The Utah Jazz are headed south of the border for the first time in the regular season.

The Jazz will play the Orlando Magic on Dec. 15 in Mexico City, marking the third-straight season NBA teams have played at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico.

“The Utah Jazz are excited to play in Mexico City and are proud to represent our fans and the NBA on a global stage,” said Utah Jazz President Steve Starks. “This will be our fourth time playing in Mexico and first time back in 15 years. Our organization thanks the NBA and the people of Mexico City for this unique opportunity.”

This will be considered a road game for the Jazz, as they will still have 41 games in Salt Lake City.

The Jazz have previously played three preseason games in Mexico City, last time taking down the Dallas Mavericks 90-85 in front of 20,092 fans on Oct. 5, 2003. The matchup will be the third game Utah has played in the NBA’s Global Games during the regular season, previously playing the Phoenix Suns twice in Tokyo, Japan during the 1990-91 season. The Orlando Magic will also host the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 13 in Mexico City.

In addition to the on-court action, the NBA Mexico City Games 2018 will feature a variety of interactive fan activities, NBA Cares community outreach initiatives and Jr. NBA programming that will bring the NBA experience to fans in Mexico City.

Following the conclusion of the NBA Mexico City Games 2020, the league will have played 32 games in Mexico since 1992.
