CycleNation and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association want to help Utahns take control of their heart and brain health while raising funds to support breakthrough research to end heart disease and stroke. The 2nd annual Utah CycleNation is Saturday, May 11th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Rebel House on 320 West 200 South. Utah’s CycleNation event will include an interactive health expo with refreshments, a stationary bike with smoothie attachment and the F.A.S.T. Room, which simulates the effects of a stroke – facial droop, arm weakness and slurred speech – through a series of activities.
Cardiovascular disease, including stroke, is the No. 1 killer in the nation responsible for every 1 in 3 deaths. The good news: 80 percent of all cardiac events and strokes are preventable. What’s good for your heart is also good for your brain. You can keep both in good shape with healthy choices, like eating smart and moving more with regular, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, like cycling. If you want to get involved, teams of four people per bike raise a minimum of $1,000. At the event, the teams will ride relay-style.
It’s not too late to register and join us on May 11th. Visit www.cyclenation.org/utah.
