Utah Philanthropy Day is Utah’s flagship celebration of philanthropy and volunteerism. It’s an opportunity to give thanks to the outstanding people who are doing amazing things right here in Utah.
It’s been a very difficult year for so many people, and it’s important to celebrate all the good things happening during these challenging times. This special program honors dozens of individuals who have stepped up—and stepped in—in truly remarkable ways this year. And we’re really proud to be part of the celebration this year.
They’ve been involved in Utah Philanthropy Day for many years. But this year felt different. We’ve seen Utahns step up in so many incredible ways this year, and we wanted to be part of this event that thanks Utahns for all they’re doing for our community right now.
This event also celebrates our nonprofit community, part of the backbone of Utah. These organizations are working tirelessly to serve Utahns and help make this an incredible place to live, and we wanted to celebrate their work as well.
One of the things I’m most excited about is the 2020 Heroes Award. It’s a new award this year that honors educators, healthcare providers, frontline workers, and unsung heroes who’ve given so much to serve others. We’re excited to turn the spotlight on them and thank them for all they do.
This Monday, November 16th at 6 pm right here on ABC4 for the special broadcast. We can’t wait to share the message of working together for the common good!
This year, some of the honorees will be:
- Ginette Bott with the Utah Food Bank – Governor’s Career Humanitarian
- Rebecca Chavez-Houck – Lt. Governor’s Public Service
- Janet Tran – Young Volunteer Award
- Park City Community Foundation – Foundation Spirit of Giving
- Tim & Candace Dee – Philanthropic Leadership
- just to name a few………
- And over 60 will be recognized as this year’s 2020 Heroes
In addition to celebrating the amazing people in our community, Utah Philanthropy Day helps to advance the diligent work of the Utah Nonprofit Association, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Utah Chapter, and UServeUtah – three organizations are the backbone of our nonprofit community here in Utah.
