FILLMORE, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – The concept of farm fresh direct to table is a reality at Mountain View Mushrooms, located in Fillmore, Utah. The company is the largest producer of fresh edible mushrooms in the Intermountain West.
Brenda Barney is the sales manager at Mountain View Mushrooms. Barney says the company began production in 1974.
“They built a farm down in Fillmore, Utah. They wanted to bring the industry to the county so they built a mushroom farm and it’s been there ever since.”
Barney says the production consists of a multi-step process that involves the the mushrooms being grown indoors. She adds that the mushrooms are picked every day except on Christmas.
“They never stop growing, even after you pick them.”
Mountain View Mushrooms are distrubuted locally, which includes Las Vegas, to help keep the product fresh for consumers and to avoid long truck deliveries. The company also fills special orders.
