Take a tour of Antelope Island by moonlight

DAVIS COUNTY (News4Utah)- More than 430,000 people explored Antelope Island State Park in 2017. The destination is becoming the place to be for those who love to put the pedals to the pavement.

The iconic causeway to the Great Salt Lake is also a paved path to paradise for cyclist of all levels.

If you haven’t tried it yourself the Antelope by Moonlight bike ride is the perfect opportunity.

The family friendly ride is for all ages and abilities. There’s a tailgate party, prizes, and the moon is showing up in full to guide the way.

Neka Roundy is the ride coordinator­. She says this year’s ride is the 25th year and the time is “Ride of the silver serpent”.

Roundy says the path is close to the mainland and communities in the Wasatch Front “yet when you are out here, you are out here. It’s wild and free, and just beautiful out here.”

If putting the pedal to the pavement isn’t your idea of fun, you can enjoy seasoned cyclists trek the trails of Antelope Island during the Tour of Utah.

Over 400,000 people participate in the Tour of Utah statewide and on August 9th,  Stage 3 starts at Antelope Island.

“I mean riding around this island is spectacular, and to come out to the start and see that and get involved with the race is a fabulous way to spend the day,” John Kimball, Managing Director for the Tour of Utah said.
