Woman who stole from clerk having seizure arrested

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – The woman who police said stole from a convenience store clerk while he was suffering a seizure has been identified.

Alexandria Dewsnup, 28, was booked into jail on charges of theft and unlawful possession of a credit card.

On October 4, a clerk at the 7-Eleven at 6852 S. State St. suffered a seizure. Unified Police detectives said video shows Dewsnup walking around the counter as the clerk was ill on the floor and taking his wallet out of his pocket.

The man’s stolen credit card was reportedly used not long after the incident. Investigators released the video to the public last week in the hope that someone who recognize her. 

Police say Dewsnup was recognized by multiple people including her parents. She later turned herself in to police.  According to a probable cause statement, Dewsnup told police she didn’t remember what happened at the 7-Eleven because she was under the influence of Xanax, but she “takes full responsbility.”
