KANAB, Utah (ABC4 News) – A woman is dead after she was hit by a Ford truck in Kanab Wednesday evening.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers said the incident happened at 6:54 p.m. when a husband and a wife were in a crosswalk crossing from west to east on SR-89A.

A Ford truck was traveling west on SR-89 turning onto SR-89A when troopers said the driver of the truck failed to see the husband and wife in the crosswalk due to the sun in his eyes.

The husband was able to jump out of the truck’s path, but the wife was unfortunately hit but the truck driver, according to authorities.

They said CPR was initiated on the scene before the wife was transported to Kanab County Hospital when she succumbed to her injuries.

Correction: A previous version of this story stated that the vehicle that hit the woman was a food truck. That information was incorrect. It was a Ford truck instead.
