Winter Weather Threat Leads to Early Start for SEC Women’s Tourney in NLR

LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) – The opening games of the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament, being played this week at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, have been moved to an earlier start on Wednesday due to projected winter weather in the Central Arkansas area.

Games will begin at 4 p.m. CT.
  • Game 1 of the tournament between Florida and Auburn, originally scheduled for 6 p.m., will begin at 4 p.m.
  • Game 2 between Vanderbilt and Alabama will start 25 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1.
Because weather may preclude some fans from being able to attend the first day of the tournament, unused tickets from Wednesday’s games may be used for general admission seating for any remaining session of the tournament.

Tournament and city officials will continue to monitor the weather and will make a determination early Thursday if there will be any adjustments to the game times for the second round of the tournament.
