West Memphis Police: Body Found in Field

WEST MEMPHIS, AR – The West Memphis Police Department (WMPD) Criminal Investigations Division is currently investigating an unknown death after the body of a male is found lying in a field.

Police were called around 8:20 this morning after a motorist reported seeing the body just east of Bill’s Grill Road.  

Patrol officers and investigators soon arrived on the scene.  

Detectives processed the scene and the body is being sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and identification.  

“We have begun the investigative process and are gathering witness statements and additional evidence at this time, until we have a positive identification of the victim and a more definitive understanding of how he died, we are handling this incident as a homicide investigation,” said WMPD Detective Division Captain Joe Baker via a news release.
