SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Police have positively located the gun that caused the lockdown of West High School.
The investigation into the incident is still being conducted at this time. Salt Lake City Police say school resource officers recovered the weapon on Tuesday.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Authorities have detained three students in connection to a West High School lockdown on Monday.
Salt Lake City Police initiated the lockdown after a social media image posted by a student showed a gun was present on school grounds.
The SLCPD, Salt Lake City Police School Resource Officers (SRO) and West High School administrators began investigating to ensure student safety. During the investigation, officials learned the suspected student stole the firearm from a family member and brought it to school.
One student was taken into custody and transported to the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center. The student will be referred to the 3rd District Juvenile Court for prosecution consideration.
The second student was released to their parents, but they may be screened again at a later date.
The third student’s status has not been determined at this time. They are still being investigated and they have not been detained or released to their parents at this time.
The weapon associated with the lockdown has still not been located at this time. Officials are still investigating the matter and are asking anyone with information on this case to call (801) 799-3000 and reference case number 21-228434.
If anyone spots the weapon, they are advised not to touch it and call 911 immediately.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – The lockdown of West High School due to an alleged gun threat has been lifted.
Students will proceed with the school day, eating lunch and attending two shortened classes before the day is over. The school day is expected to end at the regularly scheduled time, officials say.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – A school official says the lockdown of West High School on Monday morning was due to an alleged gun threat posted on social media.
Salt Lake City School District officials say a Snapchat image posted to the social platform was posted by a student at West High. The image in question shows a male holding a revolver in his hands and features a geotag location of West High School.

SLCPD has detained two students in connection with the incident and says all students are safely inside campus buildings at this time.
SLCPD has been on the school campus since 9:30 a.m. Monday morning. Students are still being held until all potential threats are cleared by officers.

The Salt Lake City School District says the students are currently safe inside campus buildings. Three police officers are currently investigating the situation.
