SANDOVAL, Ill. (WTVO) – A volunteer firefighter with down syndrome in Sandoval, Illinois says he quit the fire department because he was bullied.

33-year-old Jason Egan became a volunteer firefighter in 2016, according to KTVI

Egan has down syndrome but passed the physical test and all the paperwork, but Thursday his sister wrote on Facebook that he quit due to harrassment from several firefighters.

Egan’s family has reportedly been in contact with attorneys and disability advocates.
