CACHE COUNTY, Utah (News4Utah) – Cement barricades and a temporary fence were installed outside the Cache County Jail after car crashed into the building Friday.
Cache County Sheriff’s Office said 49-year-old Logan man had a medical incident early Friday morning and it resulted in him driving through the security fence and crashing his car into the jail wall.
Deputies on scene were able to help him get to a hospital for treatment and further evaluation.
The sheriff’s office said the vehicle extensively damaged sections of the fence, but left no damage to the wall.
Inmates on the other side of the wall reportedly slept through the incident.
“The safety and security of our staff and inmates are a top priority. The design of the fence and the building served their purpose that not even the inmates on the other side of the wall woke up,” said Cache County Sheriff Chad Jensen.
