Utahns recognized for ‘building a brighter future’

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) There was special ceremony Tuesday afternoon for people who make huge differences in the lives of Utah children and families.

The Building a Brighter Future event honors people who play a vital role in the community.

The division of child and family services recognized a group of high school faculty for working to help foster kids keep their grades up.

Some foster parents were honored for going above and beyond to help their foster child stay in the same school during temporary placement.

“It’s a lot of behind the scenes work and a lot of work that can be thank-less sometimes and really difficult and challenging emotionally. But they’re willing to step up and serve those who need the help in our community,” said Kylie Girsberger, administrative assistant with Salt Lake Valley Region of DCFS.

This was the sixth annual Building a Brighter Future Award ceremony. Other awards went to DCFS caseworkers who were nominated by their peers and members of the community.
