Utahns honored as promising future writers

News
A short anthology of stories and illustrations from contest winners who have beat the odds in getting their short stories and art published can be found in L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 31.

Two Utahns’ stories can be found in the publication — Amy Hughes short story, “The Graver,” and Scott R. Parkin short story, “Purposes for Alien Minds.”

Getting published is a big deal! Today, publishers report about 1,000,000 submissions, with only 50,000 of those submissions actually making it to print. Only a small percentage of those publications coming from new authors.

The two winners were recently recognized in Hollywood. There were over 1,000 people in attendance at the event and it can be viewed at  www.WritersOfTheFuture.com.

Amy’s acceptance speech can be found at 1:33:45 and Scott’s acceptance speech can be found at 1:59:15.
