Utahn dies in Colorado River accident

GRAND COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 UTAH)- Two men are dead after a raft overturned in the Colorado River.

Adam Ericksen, 27, from Bountiful and Charles McLynch, 50 of New York, were passengers in two separate rafts that overturned at Funnel Falls in Westwater Canyon, about 54 miles upriver from Moab.

Several people were thrown into the river when both rafts flipped. McLynch was a passenger in a raft part of a commercial trip, Ericksen was in a private raft, Grand County Sheriff’s Office said.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. 

Both men were recovered from the river by parties at the scene but efforts to revive them were unsuccessful.
