Utah, BYU fans brave the cold for rivalry game

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – Despite the snow, wind and freezing temperatures, Utah and BYU fans were not going to let the weather affect their rivalry tailgating experience.

Fans showed up early to Rice-Eccles Stadium to “prepare” for Saturday’s regular season finale, as the Utes try to make it eight straight wins over the Cougars.

“I don’t care how cold it gets,” said one Utah fan. “I’ll be out here supporting my team.”

“We’re true and loyal fans,” said a BYU fan. “It doesn’t matter the conditions. We’re going to break the streak tonight.”

Utah has already clinched a spot in next week’s Pac-12 championship game against Washington. So is the BYU game just as important?

“No way,” said a Utah fan. “We’ve never been to the Pac-12 championship. We beat BYU all the time.”

Kickoff at Rice-Eccles Stadium is set for 8:00 p.m. with temperatures expected to dip into the low-30’s.
