Two West Valley schools placed on ‘Shelter in Place’ after fight breaks out near the schools

WEST VALLEY CITY (News4Utah)- Two Granite School District schools were placed on  “Shelter in Place” Thursday as police responded to an incident near the schools.

Police say after 11 a.m. witnesses reported two groups of kids fighting near Granger High School and West Lake STEM Junior High. 

“As the groups began to disperse, one person fired multiple shots toward the other group,” West Valley police said.

The protocol was lifted at 11:45 a.m. after officers took  a few of the juveniles into custody for questioning.

There were no injuries reported. The schools were placed on the protocol as a precaution.
