Twitter suspends ‘fake’ account that helped spread viral video

News

Twitter says they have suspended the account of a user who helped spread a viral video that’s sparking outrage across the country.

According to Twitter, the user, under the name “@2020Fight,” was using a fake picture and sent an average of 130 tweets per day. They shut down the account Monday afternoon.

The video in question shows a controversial encounter between a Native American elder and a group of high school students. The original video appears to show the students mocking the elder. That video was viewed over 2.5 million times through the tweet from @2020Fight.

Video later released from a different source shows a separate group hurling insults at the students beforehand, which initially sparked the tensions.

There are a number of different recounts of what actually happened.

The school of the students in the video is telling parents it will hire an independent investigator to get to the bottom of it.
