BEAVER, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – UPDATE: The original plan was for Ms. Marquez-Valle to have the ashes with her, but those plans changed and Ms. Valle did not have her mother’s ashes with her at the time of the crash.
A crash on an icy road has cost a woman her life.
Saturday morning a 48 year old male was driving a pickup truck, Northbound, on I-15 just south of Beaver. A winter storm caused the roadway to be wet and icy.
The driver lost control and slid into the median where the truck rolled several times. The truck came to rest on it’s wheels. Two female passengers were not wearing their seatbelts.
48 year old Danielle Marquez-Valle from Mesquite was ejected. She was sitting in the front passenger seat. She died from her injuries.
The rear seat female passenger, a 28 year old female from Mesquite, sustained serious injuries and she was flown to a hospital via Life Flight. The male driver was transported by ambulance to Beaver hospital.
Danielle Marquez-Valle was on her way to Salt Lake for her mother’s funeral. It is believed that her mother’s ashes were in the truck at the time of the crash.
Troopers are searching for the ashes and when they are located, UHP Troopers will transport the ashes to Salt Lake to the waiting family.
