MIDVALE, Utah (ABC4) – Two suspects are on the loose after one waved a gun at a police officer, leading to a high-speed chase beginning in Midvale near 475 w Second Ave around 3 am Sunday morning.

The Unified Police officer was patrolling in his vehicle near 475 w Second Ave when a dark-colored sedan approached him. Unprovoked, the passenger of the sedan pulled out a gun and pointed it at the police officer, according to Unified police.

The officer tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the car sped up, leading the officer on a high-speed pursuit on northbound I-15 and I-215 westbound where speeds reached up to 120 mph.

“The speeds were too high and too dangerous to continue,” said Jared Richardson with Unified Police Department.

The police officer lost the suspects and terminated the chase.

“We’re concerned about getting these people off of the roadway,” he said. “If they’re willing to point a gun at a marked patrol vehicle, who knows what they’d be willing to do to a normal person… “It could have been a lot worse.”

No one was injured.

The suspect are still on the loose. If you know any information about the incident, report it to Unified Police Department at 801-743-4000
