Six year old child drowns at Spanish Oaks Reservoir

SPANISH FORK, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – Officers from the Spanish Fork Police Department responded to the Spanish Oaks Reservoir on reports of a missing 6 year old child.  

The child was last seen playing with other children on the sandy beach area at the reservoir. When the child was unable to be located family members called police.  

First Responders, including Patrol Officers, Fire and EMS personnel, and Utah County Search and Rescue responded and began to check the area along with citizens at the reservoir.

 A citizen searching the water located the child in approximately five feet of water at approximately.

The child was transported by ambulance to Mountain View Hospital where medical personnel attempted to revive the child, but the child succumbed to the drowning.  

The child is a 6 year old male and was from North Dakota and was at the reservoir for a family gathering.  

At this time the child is not being identified.
