Party turns into stabbing in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – An all night party turned into a stabbing in West Valley City early Sunday morning. 

Lt. Jeff Conger, West Valley City Police, said the party goers had been up all night and they got a call about 1:20 a.m. of a domestic disturbance at 3558 W. Westlake Drive.

Conger said two adult males were involved in an argument and one of them slashed the other with knife causing a 9-10 inch gash. As officers arrived, they were able to take the suspect into custody. 

The victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening. 

The suspect, Taumalua Taumalua, 33, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. 

The investigation is still ongoing, Conger said it is not known what started the argument or if drugs or alcohol were involved.
