MURRAY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – The big championship is coming to an end. And it has nothing to do with sports.
We are talking the Utah Tree Climbing Championship. Its drawn quite the crowds to Murray Park the past two days. But these are not kids climbing trees. There’s a professional purpose behind this.
Scott Bunker, the Chairman of the climbing championship, told Good4Utah, “Anything that you need to do in the care of trees includes tree climbing. A lot of companies have bucket trucks that actually go up to the trees and do some of the work but a lot of the work can’t be done by a bucket and has to be done by climbers.”
The winner will compete in the national championship in Washington, D.C. next month.
