Kavanaugh, Ford testify about sexual assault allegations during confirmation hearing

WASHINGTON (ABC News) – Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and a woman accusing him of sexual assault, Christine Blasey Ford, testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee in a historic high-stakes hearing.

The stakes are high: a lifetime appointment to the swing seat on the Supreme Court. With just 40 days until the 2018 midterm elections, Democrats and Republicans in Congress know that Americans will be watching.

In the time since Ford’s story was made public, two other women have also come forward with allegations. Kavanaugh has swiftly and repeatedly denied the allegations.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote Friday morning on Kavanaugh’s nomination unless Republicans decide to postpone it.

Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, the second ranking-Republican, says the GOP conference will meet and “see where we are.” But he says the plan is still to have the vote.

If you missed it, you can watch live streams of the nearly 9-hour hearing below.
