INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (ABC4 News) – Japanese racing driver Takuma Sato has won the 101st Indianapolis 500 held Sunday in Indiana.
Takuma Sato is a 40-year-old Japanese professional racing driver who races full-time in the IndyCar Series for Andretti Autosport. His last first place win was in 2001 where he placed first in the Macau Grand Prix, the Masters of Formula three and the British Formula three.
There has been a lot of build up over the last several weeks for the 2017 race. Many spectators have been waiting in the parking lot since Wednesday.
