CLEARFIELD, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – Another person who died too soon was remembered today.

A fundraiser was held to help the family of UHP trooper Eric Ellsworth at Clearfield High where he went to school.

He died last November after he was hit by a car while diverting traffic from a downed power line in Box Elder County.

Steven Cottle, Trooper Ellsworth’s best friend, told us, “Me and Eric were best friends in high school and then we kind of started raising our families and stuff together and we’ve been friends for a long time.”

Ellsworth left behind a wife and 3 young boys.  The money raised today will go towards his family.
