GUNNISON, Utah (ABC4) – A Cadillac collided with a garbage truck Friday around 12:30 pm on SR-89 near milepost 250 and Gunnison Reservoir Road.

A Cadillac, driven by 69-year-old Marjorie Monnett from Spring City, was traveling southbound on SR-89 when the car collided with a garbage truck, driven by 50-year-old Kevin Taylor from Ephraim, that was traveling eastbound on Gunnison Reservoir Road.

Gunnison Reservoir road is controlled by a stop sign, so Monnett had the right of way. Taylor did not stop at the sign nor did he yield to traffic and proceeded into the Cadillac’s path.

The Cadillac was hit near the rear axle, causing extensive damage.

Monnett suffered significant injuries and was transported by medical helicopter to UVRMC in poor condition, though she is expected to survive.

Charges are pending against Taylor.
