WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) A 6-year old boy has died after drowning in a hotel’s indoor pool in West Valley City Saturday Night.
West Valley City police Spokesperson Roxeanne Vainuku said dispatchers received a call at approximately 9:00 p.m. to a possible drowning at the Holiday Inn Express located at 3036 S. Decker Lake Drive.
First responders arrived within minutes and found 6-year-old Jordan Kalapa of Salt Lake City had been pulled from the water by his family and CPR was being performed by a doctor who was at the hotel. The boy was transported to the hospital where medical staff continued continued life-saving efforts for more than an hour before pronouncing the child dead.
Jordan had been with his family visiting another family member and swimming at the pool when at some point, Jordan was discovered underwater.
It is not known how long the child was under water.
Investigators will review hotel surveillance video as part of their investigation of the case.
