PAYSON, UT (ABC4 Utah) – Early this morning, a drunk driver’s car punched a hole in a brick home in Payson City.
According to Payson City Police department’s Lt. Bill Wright, 19 year old, Tryston R. Erickson crashed his car into a brick home. It happened just after midnight, Sunday morning.
The home, at 43 N 100 West in Payson, is boarded up and the Utah Red Cross is assisting the family.
Lt. Wright says of the area around SR198, the road has a “horse-shoe” bend as it turns from 100 North into 100 West. He believes that Tryston didn’t react quickly enough to the abrupt turn in the road, leading up to the crash.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
Tryston Erickson was booked to the Utah County jail this morning and is facing several charges including DUI, driving on a suspended license and failure to remain at an accident.
He was also charged with vehicle theft; Lt. Wright says, the car was taken from a family member.
After this young driver fled the scene of the accident, the police were able to catch up to him about an hour later in Elkridge, where he was easily identified.
