Taylorsville Having Fun in Shopping Carts!

News
Many races draw a crowd, but the Taylorsville Cart Dart does it a little differently – with shopping carts. This annual race pairs teams of costumed runners with themed and elaborately decorated shopping carts for a race without a set course. This is the fifth year for this unique race, held March 7th at 10 a.m.
The goal of the event, according to the race organizers, is to experience “the most fun you have had with a shopping cart.” Prizes are awarded in a number of categories and teams can win any of five trophies: fastest time, most points, best cart/costume, most enthusiastic, and dead last.
The Taylorsville Cart Dart has a bigger purpose – teams must bring food to donate to the Taylorsville Food Pantry. Additionally, proceeds from the race go to the YMCA Healthy Kids Day, an annual event that demonstrated how kids and their families can lead healthy lives in their community.
