SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – The Utah Jazz got away with not having Rudy Gobert manning the paint Saturday night against Brooklyn. But Monday with Minnesota in town, the T-Wolves went to town on the Jazz.

Karl Anthony-Towns scored 24 points, Jeff Teague added 22, while Jimmy Butler poured in 21, as the T-Wolves cruised past the Jazz, 109-98.

Minnesota led by as many as 26 points in handing the Jazz their fifth loss in their last six games.

The was Utah’s second game without Gobert, who is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a bone contusion.

“We have a tough stretch ahead of us for the next month and a half,” said head coach Quin Snyder. “Obviously without Rudy, there’s an adjustment that takes place with the team. We’re not going to be perfect, but we have to strive for that. We have to strive not to give up anything easy.”

Donovan Mitchell scored 24 points and Rodney Hood added 16 to lead the Jazz (6-8). But Minnesota shot 52 percent from the floor in reaching th 100-point mark for the 12th straight game.

“There’s a lot of teams out there that have a lot of fire power,” Hood said. “Minnesota’s one of them. We can’t go out there and be lackadaisical and be sluggish and turnover the ball. Defensively we have to be sound.”

Joe Ingles and Ricky Rubio combined to make just 1 of 13 shots, while the Jazz bench equaled the production of the starters, 49-49.

The Jazz fell in an early 33-14 hole and made just 6 of 21 shots from the field in the first quarter. Their shooting improved in the second, when consecutive 3-pointers from Hood and a banked floater from Thabo Sefolosha allowed Utah to cut Minnesota’s lead to 54-42 in the final minute before halftime.

But the Timberwolves built their lead up to 26 in the third quarter. Utah made a charge late in the fourth and cut the deficit to 105-94 on a 3-pointer from Mitchell with 2:32 left. But that was as close as they would get.

The Jazz now begin a 4-game road trip Wednesday night against New York.
