SUU Head Men’s Basketball Coach Relieved of Duties

CEDAR CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- Southern Utah University men’s basketball head coach Nick Robinson was relieved of his duties Wednesday.

Robinson’s overall record during his 4-year tenure was 28-90. He completed his 4th season with a record of 5-24, placing 11th within the Big Sky Conference.

Jason Butikofer, Director of Athletics, said, “I met with Nick earlier today and after discussing the direction of the program, I communicated the decision to move toward a change in leadership for our men’s basketball program.”

Todd Okeson, current assistant coach, was named interim head coach for the team.

A national search for the next head coach will begin immediately.

Robinson left with this statement:

“I’d like to thank Southern Utah University for the opportunity to serve as head men’s basketball coach the past four seasons…The support from administration, campus, the community and the incredible student-athletes has been amazing – thank you.”
