Suspect pulls out handgun in Sandy convenience store robbery

SANDY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – Police in Sandy are hoping you can help identify a suspect who robbed at 7-Eleven early Thursday morning.

It happened at the convenience store located at 2175 East 9400 South around 4:30 a.m.  Police say the suspect asked the clerk if he could get change for a $5 bill and when the clerk opened the cash register, he pulled a handgun from his waist band.

The suspect pointed it at the clerk and demanded money. Police say the suspect went behind the counter, took money from the cash register and fled.

He is described as a white man, under 6’ tall and about 175 pounds. He was wearing a black, blue and white full-faced motorcycle helmet with a visor with tinted sunglasses or goggles, brown Carhart-type jacket with a hoodie underneath the jacket, black shoes with a white sole and his pants were rolled up at the bottom. He also wore a blue latex glove on his left hand and a black glove on his right hand.
