Utah Success Stories

(ABC4 NEWS – Farmington, Utah) Looking for a new home can be fun as well as frustrating. In this Utah Success Stories, I got to explore what goes into finding a new home for businesses.

In my years of interviewing business owners, one of the more interesting questions I like to ask is, “What is your definition of success?” Jon Robison is the C.E.O. of Venture X. He answered; “My definition of success is doing something you love doing and your good at it and you can support yourself and your family. So, it’s a convergence of those three circles and center part is where success resides.”

How does successful business decide where to reside? While Davis is the smallest county in Utah, the 15 cities population is the 3rd highest in the state. Over 12,000 businesses call Davis County home.

Robison gave me a tour of his new workspace for business. Why Station Park in Farmington? He had obviously done his homework as he rattled of a number of reasons; “If you look at the transportation, the profile of station park, the retail, the restaurants, access to the airport, the amenities, the outdoors, it’s the perfect spot for someone to work in a professional environment and love where they work.”

What kind of companies use Venture X? Robison reported; “We have companies from a variety of industries. Colliers International, Finance Peak. We have

entrepreneurs. Companies in stealth mode. It’s not focused on one industry or one type of business. It’s really opens to professionals of all types.”

It was nice to visit with Ryan Flint of Colliers International. As a commercial real estate expert, he has a unique perspective on what businesses owners are looking for. He told me; “We like Venture X because of Station Park, the location. The amenity base that surrounds this building along with the top of the line furniture, furnishings, sales people. It’s comfortable and it’s going to attract a really good network of businesses.”

Robison has simple answer for the old real estate axiom of “location, location, location.” With a smile he told me; “X marks the spot.”
