Student Shot After Wielding Knife in Nevada School Attack

RENO, Nevada (ABC4 Utah)- Video from a high school in Nevada shows a student wildly swinging a large knife in the middle of a large crowd of students.

That incident lead to an officer-involved shooting.

It happened just before noon Wednesday at Hug High School.

Videos of the encounter posted by students online are being reviewed by Reno police.

Some of those videos show the chaos as the student apparently refused to drop the knife.

A school resource officer responded to the scene and fired one shot, hitting the 16-year-old boy.

He was taken to a local hospital.

Police think it may have started as a fight between two students.

The school was temporarily put on lockdown.

Classes are expected to continue as normal Thursday.
