SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) Part of the 100-year birthday of the Utah State Capitol included the opening of a time capsule.

The event featuring Utahns who were alive when the time capsule was buried helped kick off the week-long celebration.

Governor Herbert was also on hand. Officials carefully drilled open the capsule then even more carefully pulled the items out one by one.

It included articles form different Utah newspapers, coins and a copy of Andrew Jenson’s Latter-day Saint biographical encyclopedia and a picture of the original capitol commission.
