ST. GEORGE (ABC4 Utah) – In our southern part of the state, runners of all ages hit the street before their Thanksgiving meal.
The Gobbler’s tag line is “Hobble now, gobbler later,” but it’s even more than that. Money raised for this annual Holiday race goes towards The Dove Center –a shelter that gives hope to those hurt by domestic violence and sexual assault.
Before the gluttony begins, the streets were filled.
“And then we feel like we can go home and have a great meal,” said Janet Campbell, a St. George grandmother who walked the race.
“It gives me a good exercise and I really like it, and I like to be spending time with my cousins and my grandma and grandpa and my siblings,” said 10-year-old Joey.
Kids and adults, or athletes ready to break records, or those looking for a walk, There was a race for everyone.
“I am walking. I am more of a walker,” said Campbell.
“Well, we’ve been doing it since like two years ago,” said 12-year-old Jake.
“It makes me want to eat more, so that we can feel happier, because I really like eating,” said Joey.
