WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Officials in Washington County said a woman reported missing was found dead Tuesday afternoon.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said Sarah Frances Cox (Yasuda), 33, was camping with her husband and son on the Little Creek Mountain area, southwest of  Apple Valley when she left on the evening of Sunday, April 28 and never returned. Her husband reported her missing the next day.

Deputies announced Tuesday evening Cox’s (Yasuda’s) body had been found around 3:30 p.m. Officials said it appeared she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators are still looking into the circumstances leading up to her death, but they do not suspect foul play.
