WASHINGTON CITY (News4Utah) – Police say an argument led to a shooting at a southern Utah Walmart.
Police say several shots were fired in the Washington City Walmart parking lot early Wednesday morning. One man was taken to the hospital, and another is in custody charged with attempted murder.
“There were witnesses, they were interviewed by officers at the scene, and that information is going into the investigation,” said Ed Kantor with Washington City Police.
Police say many of those witnesses were Walmart employees who helped the victim after he was shot in the leg.
The suspect left the scene.
“Our officers had information that he was in Mesquite, or en route to Mesquite. They notified Mesquite
police and gave them the description,” said Kantor.
That information led to the arrest of Henry Pittman, 23, of St. George
“The facts in the investigation show that there was probable cause to believe attempted murder was appropriate… There was a relationship between the two individuals, between the victim and the suspect that did lead up to the shot being fired,” said Kantor.
Pittman is being held on a $1 million bond, the investigation still ongoing.
Police say the victim’s injuries were non-life threatening when he was transported to the hospital.
