(AP) — A woman accidentally brought a python in her luggage all the way from Australia to the UK hidden in a shoe, according to British media.

The snake survived three flights from Queensland to Glasgow, a journey that lasted 40 hours.

It was reported that Moira Boxall, a 72-year-old grandmother, was shocked to discover a 60-metre (two-foot) reptile after returning home to Scotland from a trip to see her daughter in Australia.

It is believed that the python went into hibernation and started shedding its skin during the long flight to the UK.

Boxall reportedly contacted the Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and the reptile is now quarantined at their re-homing centre in Edinburgh.
