SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – Jayden Clemons threw for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns, and also rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown, as Skyridge beat Roy to advance to the 5A championship game for a second straight year, 42-15.
Ma’a Notoa rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns for the Falcons, who built a 35-7 lead the half and cruised to the victory.
“We were swinging together good drives and the defense was doing a good job,” Clemons said. “Coming out the second half, we started off a little slow, then we started picking things up. We came out with the W and that’s all that matters.”
Clemons threw touchdown passes to James Palmer and Ty Arrington in the first half, while Notoa controlled the game on the ground with a couple of bruising touchdown runs.
Roy quarterback Jaxson Dart threw touchdown passes to Dionte Davis and Caden Harris, but he was sacked four times and threw a pick-6 to Blayden Togiai near the end of the half to give Skyridge an insurmountable lead.
Now Skyridge gets a second chance in as many years at the 5A title, after the Falcons lost to Lehi in 2017.
“You know what, we started something and we left it out there last year.,” Togiai said. “I’m here to go take it back and with my team.”
Skyridge will take on Corner Canyon in the 5A title game on Friday.
