Search Continues For One Suspect in Centerville Kidnapping

News

SUBLETTE COUNTY, Wyoming (ABC4 Utah) – UPDATE: Authorities report that Flint Wayne Harrison turned himself in to the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office at 1:45am Saturday morning.

Flint is one of the two suspects wanted in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a mother and her four daughters in Centerville earlier this week.

Dereck Harrison, Flint’s son, is the other suspect wanted this case.  He is still at large, considered dangerous and is believed to be in the Half Moon Lake area of Sublette County, Wyoming.

While the search continues for Dereck, police are asking citizens to stay out of the area.  Residents in Pinedale have been asked to consider staying indoors, if at all possible.

Sublette County Sheriff’s office says they believe Flint and Dereck have been back in Wyoming since Thursday.

They do not know what prompted Flint to turn himself in.

CENTERVILLE (ABC4 Utah News) – The search continued Thursday for a father and son accused of tying up and assaulting a woman Tuesday night in the basement of a Centerville home.

51 year old Flint Harrison and his 22 year old son Dereck “D.J.” Harrison have eluded police for more than two days.

On Thursday, Flint’s ex-wife and Dereck’s mother MaryAnn Harrison was in tears as she struggled to explain why her son allegedly tied up and beat a woman he knew with a baseball bat as her four teenage daughters watched. MaryAnn says that Dereck D.J. Harrison was under the influence of methamphetamine and under the influence of his father.

MaryAnn said her ex-husband came down from Wyoming for a dental appointment and used meth with Dereck this past weekend.

“Flint isn’t a good man.,” MaryAnn said. “He’s evil and he’s somehow talked my son into doing these things. My son’s a good kid.”

She thinks Dereck is experiencing meth-induced psychosis and paranoia.

“D.J. in a million years would not do these things,” she told ABC4 Utah News. “The family that this happened to he loves, spends time with them all the time.”

Lieuntenant Von Steenblik of the Centerville Police Department said that D.J. was seeking some sort of retribution against the woman.

“D.J.’s perception that the mother had ratted him out for something which she doesn’t know what that would be and we don’t know what that would be,” Lt. Steenblik said. “So we’re not sure why but it was DJ who made the statement ‘We’re going to get to the bottom of this” and then the assault.”

After the family managed to escape, Flint and Dereck took off in Flint’s 2011 Chevy Suburban which police found abandoned in Farmington. Around 10 o’clock Tuesday night an acquaintance drove the pair to a Salt Lake City Ramada Inn and got them a room. They left Wednesday morning and haven’t been seen since.

“There’s a lot of possibilities at this point,” Lt. Steenblik said. “They may have split up. They could still be together. They could have been driven out of state so we’re waiting to see what develops.”

With Flint Harrison’s current wife stating he’s willing to “go out in a blaze of glory”, MaryAnn worries that if Dereck is still with his father, this will “end badly”.

“I just want him to come home.,” MaryAnn said. “Just look in my eyes babe. Just come home. Please.”

The Centerville Police Department has set up a tip line for anyone who has information on Flint and D.J.Harrison. That number is 801-335-8844
