Runnin’ Utes open season with 83-62 victory

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – The Runnin’ Utes season is off to a flying start.

Sedrick Barefield scored 22 points, while David Collette added 17, as the Utes ran away from Prairie View A&M at the Huntsman Center Friday night, 83-62.

Tyler Rawson added 16 points, while Justin Bibbins had 9 points and 4 assists.

After taking a 39-31 lead into halftime, the Utes opened the second half on a 19-0 run and never looked back.

Utah made 51.8 percent of its shots, despite sinking just 5 of 20 from beyond the 3-point arc.

The Utes forced 18 turnovers, but committed 19 of their own. 

Next up for Utah, Mississippi Valley State on Monday night.
