MONTREAL (ABC4 Sports) – After recording back-to-back shutouts, Real Salt Lake had no defense for Montreal, losing to the impact, 3-1 Saturday night.

The loss snaps RSL’s 6-game unbeaten streak dating back to June 30th, and ends their 3-game road winning streak.

Ignacio Piatti scored in the 11th minute to give Montreal the early lead. But Luis Silva leveled the match with his third goal of the year in the 26th minute.

However, just three minutes later, Piatti scored his second goal of the match, beating Nick Rimando to give Montreal a 2-1 lead.

Anthony Jackson-Hamel broke the game open with a goal in the 47th minute to make it 3-1.

“We played a team tonight in Montreal who is firing on all cylinders,” said head coach Mike Petke. “We prepared pretty heavily for them and Piatti still got two goals. He’s a phenomenal player and my hat goes off to him. I think we were sloppy with the ball at times, at times we were good, and we didn’t do a good enough job with the transition game. Overall, we had a ton of chances as well, hit the post, certain opportunities and it just didn’t work so it’s off to Wednesday.”

RSL outshot Montreal, 19-14, and placed two more shots on frame than the Impact, 6-4.

Real Salt Lake falls to 8-13-5 on the year and remains in 8th place in the Western Conference. RSL nexts hosts San Jose in a crucial midweek clash Wednesday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.
