SEATTLE (ABC4 Sports) – Real Salt Lake could not build off the momentum of Wednesday’s win over New York City FC, as RSL continues its struggles on artificial turf with a 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders.
The loss is Real’s 19th straight on turf dating back to 2013.
Seattle dominated possession throughout the game. Harry Shipp scored the only goal in the 42nd minute on a shot that deflected off an RSL defender.
Nick Rimando made five saves in goal, including a penalty kick save in the 55th minute to extend his MLS record to 22 PK saves. But RSL could not provide any offensive spark throughout the match.
RSL falls to 3-8-2 on the year. They next host Philadelphia May 27th at Rio Tinto Stadium.
