Rep. McAdams selected for ‘Space & Tech’ committee

WASHINGTON (ABC4 News) — Utah’s 4th Congressional Representative Ben McAdams has been selected for a second House committee after being chosen for the Financial Services committee.

McAdams will also serve on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee.

“Science and technology are important aspects of both Utah’s higher education system and our economy. Our state has long played a leadership role in academic research and in space technology. I’m excited to be a voice for these issues on this committee,” said McAdams.

The committee oversees legislation related to energy, environment, scientific research, and includes the National Weather Center. It has previously held a hearing related to STEM education and careers in addition to issues related to artificial intelligence.

Most recently, the chairwoman for the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee introduced legislation to repeal the ban that prevents the Department of Health and Human Services from sponsoring research on gun violence.
