SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – Early last week the Salt Lake Chamber hosted it’s annual economic summit that focused on Utah’s economy now and in the future. And with the 2018 Legislative session kicking off tomorrow the Chamber also unveiled it’s top 10 priorities at the summit.
President and CEO Lane Beattie stops by Inside Utah Politics to discuss some of their top priorities on that list, including modernizing Utah’s Tax code.
“When you look at what’s really important for us economically, and for the people, and jobs and everything else around us it’s the tax code. We are literally living with a tax code that is literally decades old,” Beattie said.
Also on the priority list is education and workforce.
“We need to make sure that our kids are being taught the programs so that when they graduate they have the ability to get a job,” said Beattie.
He also talks about air quality and economic development, both of which are on the priority list for 2018.
