Local organization raising awareness of women’s history

Inside Utah Politics

SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah) – A local non-profit organization is laying the groundwork for the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment.

CEO of Better Days 2020 Neylan McBaine stops by Inside Utah Politics to talk more about the mission of this organization.

“We recognize that 2020 is actually the 150th anniversary of Utah being the first place where a woman cast a ballot and we thought that was worth celebrating. Especially since it corresponds with the centennial of the 19th Amendment which granted women the right to vote throughout the county,” said McBaine.

The organization is also working to popularize Utah women’s history in creative and communal ways.

“One way we’re doing that  is through education, legislation and art. Specifically in our education efforts we have a pilot program in the Jordan School District that has a fourth and seventh grade module for teaching Utah women’s history,” said McBaine.

She also talks about the organizations funding and some of their upcoming events.
